An officer patrolling the 400 block of South Rose Street on the evening of Oct. 25 saw a man wearing only underwear and socks stumble out of a driveway and into the highway, according to a police report.
The man, a 29-year-old from Grapevine, appeared to have been beaten, the officer wrote.
His face was swollen and bloodstained, and his nose was bleeding. Dried blood was on his chest and legs, and a cut above his right ankle appeared to need stitches. His upper left back had a bite mark.
The man would not say who hurt him.
He told the officer only that he had been beaten up, and the officer noted an odor of intoxicants. The man initially tried to walk back to the residence he had come from and said he did not want to go to jail.
The officer learned the man had a warrant from another agency.
An ambulance crew examined then man and recommended hospital treatment. He was given the choice of going to the hospital or to jail, and he chose the hospital.
A second officer was sent to the residence the man had come from to make contact.
The report lists no suspects, and the man never said who caused his injuries.
