Speeding Stop Leads to ICE Hold for Little Rock Driver
A Little Rock man was arrested after a Grant County deputy stopped him for speeding on Highway 167 North.
According to the incident report, a deputy clocked a vehicle traveling 76 mph in a posted 60 mph zone at about 1:20 p.m. Monday, July 20.
The driver, identified as Martin Alvarado-Carmona, 42, of the 7400 block of Shady Grove Road in Little Rock, told the deputy he did not have a driver's license and presented a City of Little Rock identification card instead. The report states Alvarado-Carmona said he was not a U.S. citizen when the deputy asked about his citizenship status.
Alvarado-Carmona was arrested and transported to the Sheridan Detention Center, where he was charged with driving without a license, no liability insurance and reckless driving, according to the report. The Sheridan Police Department was notified of his stated immigration status, and an ICE hold was placed through that department, the report states.
Prattsville Man Hid in Woods After Hit-and-Run, Faces Felony Charge
A Prattsville man faces a felony charge after a hit-and-run crash on Highway 291 North left a Malvern man injured, according to a Grant County Sheriff's Office report.
The report states a deputy was dispatched to the crash at about 5:48 p.m. Monday, July 20. The driver who remained at the scene, Christian Roark, 23, of the 9700 block of Highway 270 West in Malvern, told the deputy a red SUV driven by William Gossage, 33, of the 4100 block of Highway 291 North in Prattsville, pulled out from Grant 45 without stopping at the stop sign and collided with his vehicle. Roark was struck by the deploying airbags and was later transported by MEMS to Baptist Health Medical Center in Malvern for evaluation, the report states.
According to the report, Roark said Gossage told him he was okay but did not have insurance, then left the scene.
Deputies searched for Gossage for several hours, including at his residence and two area hospitals, before he emerged from a wooded area behind his home and told a deputy he had been hiding because he knew he had active warrants.
He was arrested on those existing warrants and taken to the Sheridan Detention Center, then released after MEMS recommended he be evaluated for back pain; he was advised to turn himself in on the new charges within several days, the report states.
The report lists the new charges as leaving the scene of an accident involving injury or property damage, failure to stop at a stop sign, no liability insurance, driving on a suspended license and reckless driving.
Abandoned Truck Towed From Highway 270 West Shoulder
A white Ford F-250 hauling a four-wheeler was towed from the shoulder of Highway 270 West near Grant 43 after sitting abandoned for several hours, according to a sheriff's office report.
A deputy first spotted the unoccupied truck around 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, parked partly on the fog line with its tow mirror extending into the roadway.
When the deputy passed by again nearly four hours later and found it still there, he requested a wrecker due to the traffic hazard it posed.
The report lists the truck's registered owner as Jeremy Freeman; a Polaris four-wheeler loaded in the bed was also documented.
Max's Garage towed the vehicle without incident, the report states. No charges are noted in connection with the incident.
Tire Comes Off Sheridan Woman's Car on Highway 46
A Sheridan woman requested a police report for insurance purposes after a wheel came off her car and she left the roadway on Highway 46, according to a sheriff's office report.
Samantha Sanchez, 37, told a deputy she was pulling out of Grant 4620 onto Highway 46 North on the morning of Friday, July 24, when the rear tire of her 2014 Lincoln MKX came off, causing her to leave the roadway. The report states Sanchez's mechanic advised her a police report was necessary for her insurance claim.
Same Prattsville Man Arrested Again, Five Days After Hit-and-Run
The same Prattsville man arrested in the July 20 hit-and-run was taken into custody again five days later after a deputy stopped him for a trailer lighting violation.
According to the report, a deputy stopped a red Chevrolet Tahoe towing a boat near the Dollar General on Highway 270 West in Prattsville at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 25, after noticing the trailer had no taillights and no visible registration.
The driver, identified as William Gossage, 33, told the deputy he did not have a driver's license and was aware it was suspended. Dispatch confirmed Gossage's license was suspended and that he had no insurance, the report states.
Gossage was arrested and transported to the Sheridan Detention Center. He was charged with driving on a suspended license and no liability insurance. His vehicle was towed by Moro Creek Towing.
A court date is scheduled for Sept. 1 in Grant County District Court, according to the report.
