Meth Pipe Found During Inventory Search After Highway 167 Crash

Deputy Jonathan Smart responded to a two-vehicle injury crash on Highway 167 North and said driver Spencer Galbraith, 39, admitted he'd looked down at his phone and crossed into the northbound lane, striking the other vehicle head-on; occupants of that vehicle received life-saving measures from Grant County Fire and Rescue at the scene. During an inventory search ahead of towing, deputies said they found a glass smoking device with burnt residue consistent with methamphetamine use in the passenger floorboard of Galbraith's truck. Galbraith, who is on active parole supervision, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, improper lane usage, and no proof of insurance, with a court date set for Aug. 4.
911 Hang-Up Leads to Arrest of Man Accused of Choking Sister

Deputy Jonathan Smart responded to a disconnected 911 call where dispatchers reported hearing screaming and a reference to a knife. Deputy Smart found Harold Burris, 75, bleeding from his knuckles and arm; Burris said he'd punched a wall during an argument with his sister, Linda Webb, 76. Webb told deputies that after the argument, Burris grabbed her by the neck and knocked her to the ground before their brother, Howard Burris, pulled him off her. Webb said she never felt her airway was restricted and declined medical treatment. Harold Burris was arrested and cited for third-degree domestic battering; he was provided a Laura's Card and a lethality screening was completed with Webb, per department protocol.
Father-Son Dispute Over Lawn Mower Turns Into Chest-Bumping Confrontation

Deputy Austin Bryant responded to a disturbance call from Daniel Theiss, 24, who said he'd gone to his father Patrick Theiss's home to pick up a lawn mower when the two got into a heated argument. Daniel said his father approached him, got in his face, and chest-bumped him. Patrick told Bryant the argument "got out of hand" and that he wanted his son to leave the property; Daniel left without further incident. No charges were filed.
Woman Alleges Assault by Partner, No Arrest Made Due to Delay, Lack of Injuries

Maxine Barber, 56, told Deputy Rick Stephenson that a physical argument with James Hendrix, 38, over financial issues turned physical the night before, with Hendrix allegedly striking her in the face and attempting to break one of her fingers. Stephenson noted he observed no bruising, redness, or swelling consistent with the allegation, and roughly 14 hours had passed before Barber called it in. Hendrix acknowledged the argument "might have gotten physical" but declined to elaborate. He was not arrested at the time; the incident was documented for the record.

Driver Flees Traffic Stop After Erratic Driving Report, Found With Inhalant Cans, Open Alcohol

Deputy Rick Stephenson stopped a white Chevrolet Tahoe on Highway 270 West after a caller, later identified as Natasha Murrell, reported the vehicle swerving into oncoming traffic. Stephenson said the driver, Tucker Black, 20, stared blankly and failed to respond to commands to roll down his window before throwing a bag toward the back seat and fleeing; he pulled over about a half-mile later. A records check showed Black's license was suspended. An inventory of the vehicle turned up 16 empty cans of compressed air duster, several unopened cans, and open beer containers; Black admitted to inhaling the duster. Field sobriety tests were inconclusive, which Stephenson's report noted is consistent with the short-lived effects of inhalant use. Black was booked into the Sheridan Detention Center on charges of fleeing, driving on a suspended license, public intoxication, and possession of an open container.

Sgt. Brian Sweeney responded to a report of a man lying in a yard on Grant County Road 17 and found Corey Finley, 22, showing signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and an unsteady gait. Finley was able to provide his home address and was driven there without further incident. No charges were filed.
Out-of-State Homeowner's Doorbell Camera Catches Trio on Porch

Amanda Duduit, 48, who lives out of state, told Deputy Steven Childers her doorbell camera alerted her to three men outside her property on Grant County Road 481, one of whom stepped onto the porch before the group left after apparently noticing the camera. Duduit's sister checked the house and found no signs of damage or forced entry. No suspects have been identified.
Man Stopped Near Property He Was Barred From, Arrested for Trespassing, Protection-Order Violation

Deputy Brock Townley stopped James Phillips, 27, driving away from a Poyen residence he'd reportedly been barred from less than 24 hours earlier under a protection order. According to the report, Phillips had gone to the home to retrieve his children — an arrangement his wife, Skylar Phillips, had agreed to only with deputies present for a civil standby — but arrived and entered on his own before deputies got there, prompting a verbal dispute with homeowner Earl Harp. Townley recognized Phillips while responding to the area and initiated a stop; Phillips said he didn't think deputies needed to be present. He was taken into custody and transported to the Sheridan Detention Center, where he was cited for criminal trespass and violating the protection order.
Rear-End Crash Follows Prattsville Fireworks Show

Deputy Rick Stephenson, working traffic control after the Prattsville Community Center's July 4 fireworks display, responded to a rear-end collision on Highway 270 involving a silver Jeep Compass driven by Hannah Roberts, 24, and a black Ford F-150 driven by Zachary Hill, 36. Roberts could not provide proof of insurance at the scene. No injuries were reported, and no charges were issued.
Woman Arrested After Refusing to Leave Property, Broken Meth Pipe Found Nearby

Deputy Rick Stephenson responded to a trespassing complaint after property resident Elijah Brooks said Shannon Shumaker, 44, had been sitting in a car in the driveway since late the night before despite her son, James Dancer, telling Brooks by phone that he didn't want her there. When Stephenson approached the vehicle, where Shumaker was seated with Steve Peden, 70, she became argumentative and displayed signs of impairment, including erratic movements and rambling speech; she acknowledged drinking that day. Shumaker refused a portable breath test and refused repeated requests to arrange her own transportation off the property. She was arrested for criminal trespass after declining to leave. Peden, who deputies said showed no signs of impairment, was allowed to leave. After Shumaker was placed in the patrol car, Stephenson reported finding a broken glass pipe on the ground near the passenger side of the vehicle. She was booked into the Sheridan Detention Center on charges of criminal trespass and public intoxication.
Owner Returns From Trip to Find Lawn Equipment, Trailer Missing

Linda Rhodes, 62, told Deputy Brock Townley that when she returned from a trip to Branson, Missouri, she found several pieces of property missing, including a Cub Cadet zero-turn mower, a utility trailer, a leaf vacuum sweeper, a weed eater, a limb trimmer, a leaf blower, and two five-gallon containers of insecticide — together valued at more than $7,000. Rhodes said she'd left the morning of July 2 and hadn't returned until the evening of July 5. Deputies found an open storage shed and dead grass consistent with where a trailer had been parked, but recent weather had eliminated any tire tracks or footprints. No suspect has been identified, and the case is listed as inactive.
Company Trailer Stolen From Job Site, Tracked to Hot Springs Address

Mario Womack, 44, of Mendenhall, Mississippi, told Deputy Jonathan Smart that a 22-foot gooseneck trailer belonging to his employer, Kendall Vegetation, was taken from a job site on Grant County Road 2700041. A GPS tracker on the trailer, valued at $10,000, showed it had last reported from an address in Hot Springs, and the trailer was entered into NCIC as stolen. Sheriff Pete Roberts and Investigator Mason Thornton later joined Garland County Sheriff's Office investigators at the Hot Springs address, but found no trailer, and the homeowner there said she'd never seen one. The company's manager provided coordinates for the trailer's last known signal, but the tracker requires power to update. The case has been placed inactive pending further leads.
Redfield Woman Reports Unemployment Fraud in Her Name

Tonia Brewer, 57, contacted Deputy Eric Fain after receiving a denial letter from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services for an unemployment claim she said she never filed. Brewer told Fain she hasn't filed for unemployment in more than a year. The letter directed her to report the apparent identity fraud to local law enforcement. No suspect has been identified.

Harris was taken into custody, and an inventory of the vehicle ahead of towing turned up an open container of alcohol. He was booked into the Sheridan Detention Center on both charges.
