Dog Off the Chain Sparks Neighbor Dispute

Officers responded to the 200 block of West Vine Street on Sept. 14 after Cheri Lewis reported her dog had gotten off its chain. She told police a neighbor on the 500 block of North Rose Street had been harassing her and believed the neighbor was responsible for letting the dog loose. Officers found the dog in the neighbor's yard; no one answered the door there. The dog was returned to Lewis, who requested a police report.

 Vandalism Reported on Spray Drive

On Sept. 20 Randall Tucker, of the 900 block of Spray Drive, reported that his vehicle's rear window had been damaged, apparently by a rock thrown from the end of the driveway. The vehicle had been parked for about two weeks. Officers took an information report and advised Tucker to contact his insurance company.

Attempted Break-In on West 7th Street

Alisha Phelps, of an apartment on the 400 block of West 7th Street, reported coming home to find her front door jamb damaged, with a screw lodged in the broken wood and a rock nearby matching those at the end of the driveway on Sept. 21. A neighbor reportedly told her an older man with scruffy hair had been seen at the complex claiming to be with maintenance, though no one recognized him. Police said they would increase patrols in the area.

Aggressive Dog Bites Child on North Red Street

Police responded to the 500 block of North Red Street on Sept. 21 after Amanda Williams reported her neighbor's dog had bitten a child who was attempting to remove the dog from her property. The dog's owner, Caleb Baker, told police the animal, which he said is aggressive, gets out of the house accidentally when his children come and go through the front door. He said he was aware of the dog's behavior and would take steps to keep it from getting out again.
