Sheridan Police are investigating a report that a man followed two teenage sisters throughout a local Walmart before being confronted by a bystander, according to a police report obtained by the Fire.

Jonathan Cypert, 50, of Sheridan, told police his 13- and 16-year-old daughters contacted him around 8:35 p.m. on Aug. 16 after leaving the store, saying a white male wearing a ball cap and gray shorts had followed them throughout the store, according to the report.

A local pastor, identified in the report as Thomas Sewell, was also in the store, noticed the same man near the girls, and stayed with them for the remainder of their shopping trip.

According to the report, the man followed the group toward checkout despite not having any items to purchase.

Sewell confronted the man in the checkout area, and the man left the store immediately afterward. Sewell then escorted the girls out, and they contacted their father.

The report is classified as informational only, and no suspect has been named or charged.

The case remains open.
